How we checked these guides, and what to re-check each year

Every figure in this section was compared with an official page and checked again in a separate review. Here are the sites, the yearly re-check list, the open points and our last review date, 5 November 2026.

Prepared by Prem Tax and Accounting Corp. Last checked against official sources on November 5, 2026.

Rules for Indian funds change every year, so every page here shows its year and its review date. Our Bookmark-and-Date Binder keeps the official page, the date you read it and the month to look again together. We prepare U.S. returns and work alongside your adviser in India, Canada or Europe. See our Indian CPA page.

The short version
  • Last reviewed 5 November 2026. Each guide also shows its own review date.
  • Every number carries its year. Points no official source settles say "not settled".
  • We never rank, rate or recommend a fund or fund house.

Slide show: How we checked

  1. Read the source

Each number was compared with an official page on or before 5 November 2026.

  2. Second look

A separate review re-checked every claim against the primary source.

  3. Label it

Each figure shows its year, and invented examples say so.

Where the facts come from

  • India: SEBI, AMFI, the RBI, the Income Tax Department and its e-filing portal, the Gazette, and each fund house's own documents.
  • USA and Canada: the IRS, FinCEN, the Treasury and the eCFR; the CRA, Justice Laws, Finance Canada and the Bank of Canada.
  • UK and Europe: GOV.UK and HMRC, legislation.gov.uk, the FCA, the German, Dutch, French and Swiss tax and law sites, EUR-Lex, ESMA, the European Parliament and the OECD.

Common questions

How do I know a figure is current?

Each guide shows its review date and each number its year. Rules change, so confirm on the official page before you act.

Why do some points say not settled?

The official source is silent or readers differ. We report what each source says and stop there.

Where do fund-house policies come from?

From each fund house's own documents. The guide on [fund houses that restrict](/indian-mutual-funds/india-rules/amcs-that-restrict-us-and-canada/) dates every reading.
